News entered on 3rd September 2006 - Staithefest Rocks! Our thanks to all the bands & audience who turned up at the Staithe Festival & made it a success, it was a very enjoyable weekend with great bands (+ some excellent beer) & the weather just about held up. We are looking forward to next year already. We aim to start recording the next CD at Purple Studios in Norwich by November & have already started trying out some new numbers at gigs. We will announce it on the website & via the mailing list when it is available. Our previous albums Preserving the Dead & Midnight Sun should be out again soon, possibly before our new release. News entered on 12th April 2006 - Stable Records Egypt have recently joined Stable Records who will handle all our future releases, etc. We shall be working with Proper Distribution who will get our stuff into the shops around the country & therefore to a wider audience. As well as Egypt there are several other bands on the label including The Strats from Ireland, Blue on Black from the deep South-West & TEA from Spain who are scheduled to fly over to record their next CD at Purple studios in Norwich some time soon. The second Egypt album, 1994s Preserving the Dead, which has been un-available for quite some time will also be re-released on Stable, hopefully within a couple of months & we are already working on new material for our next CD planned for release this year. We should be starting to try out some of the new stuff on the road very soon so watch out for the occasional new number here & there & let us know what you think. News entered on 31st January 2006 - Skeggie/'Hogs/Spain We had a great evening last Saturday at the Skegness Rock & Blues Festival. We played to what must have been a full house at Jaks, & a very enthusiastic & appreciative one as well. Our thanks to everyone who turned up, some of you from quite a distance. The short set as The Groundhogs with Tony McPhee after the Egypt set ended up being a lot longer than planned, probably because it was going so well & it was great to play together with Tony again. There are already plans afoot to have Egypt on again next year so with luck we could be a regular feature at the festival. Anyway, a great time was had by all....& this time I didn't have to smash anything up! We have some more Spanish gigs coming up in May & also possibly in July, including a Festival somewhere in the Toledo region. All this via Madrid band TEA who were over in the UK recently. We had an excellent gig with them at The Barrel in Banham, Norfolk in which we ended up having a jam with them. We are hoping to have them back in May so watch out for details & try & see them if you get the chance. |
