News entered on 18th November 2005 - Skegness Rock & Blues Egypt are booked to play the Skegness Rock & Blues Weekend on the evening of Saturday 28th January on the Blues matters Stage at Jaks Bar, the same venue as last year. Although I have no details of other acts over the weekend, those of you who have been before will know to expect a great line-up of bands such as the Yardbirds, Dr Feelgood, The Animals & the like. We had a great gig last time & fully intend to have a great one this time if we can help it. It looks like Tony McPhee will be doing his solo/duo set before us & then joining us for a few numbers at the end of our set. I will be adding more details when I get them. Also of interest is that Egypt members get a mention in a new book. Hoggin' the Page - Groundhogs: The Classic Years - by Martyn Hanson has just been published. I have done a short review & included contact details etc - Click here News entered on 13th September 2005 - Staithe Festival The Staithe Beer & Blues Festival was a success, especially considering it was originally cancelled & then hurriedly put back on at the last minute. As a result of this the planned line-up of bands was scrambled about quite a bit. However it all turned out OK in the end & the good news is that the landlord of the Sutton Staithe Hotel plans to carry on with the festival for the next few years. There is a website set up at www.staithefest.com which will be online for next years do & beyond. Also, you may want to check out the Photo Gallery, as I have added some excellent photos taken at the Fordham Festival in Cambridgeshire. News entered on 28th June 2005 - Toledo Rocks! We're back from sunny Spain. A very big thank you to TEA (our most excellent hosts Jorge, Quique, Pedro & Louis). It was a great success & it looks like they want us back pretty sharpish. The band TEA are a bunch of uber-nice, Blues/Rock-crazy "Madridians" who will be visiting the Norfolk & Cambs area for a few gigs in the first weekend in August. Eric, Alan & Billy Fleming should be doing some short support slots for them at some gigs. click for details. Do go & see them if you get the chance as it is well worth it, we saw them do their set & also jammed with them a couple of times & were very impressed. We tried to take a few photos on our crappy little camera which also suffered from "beer wobble" so the result is a bit rubbish but we are looking for something better. Maybe next time we'll take something a bit more decent to bring back evidence...I mean....a few memories. We're looking forward to "phase two" (there is already talk of festivals etc) so it could be very interesting. News entered on 1st February 2005 - Skegness Rock & Blues
A very successful gig last Sunday afternoon to a very appreciative audience that included many familiar faces, many from quite far afield. Thanks to all for supporting us & giving us such a great reception. We had been looking forward to the gig & we were not disappointed. There were a few minor problems here & there with delays etc (plus a bit of an altercation between a microphone & myself), luckily the management decided to extend the show for another hour. However we were busy sorting stuff out till the last minute before we went on stage, which didn't give us much time to drink...er...I mean chat with people, which was a pity. Still, maybe next year!
