24th December 04 - Merry Xmas etc..
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, thanks for your support over the last year. There's a Boxing Day gig at Letheringsett with Billy Fleming on drums, but apart from that we'll be taking a break till January 6th when we start a very busy year. We are eagerly awaiting 2005, it could turn out to be a very good year for us if everything goes to plan. There's gigs coming in from all over the country, & hopefully beyond, as Europe is making a few interesting noises in our direction. This includes quite a few Blues Festivals around the UK & abroad. There's nothing too definite at the moment but there's a whole lot of stuff pencilled in, & as soon as someone finds a pen......... anyway, take care of yourselves & we'll see you at the other end of the festivities.
4th August 04 - Maryport/Border TV.
Our thanks to everyone at the Maryport Blues Festival. Great response from the audience. Alan did an interview for Border Television who also captured part of the set on camera, although what's going to happen with it we can only guess. If we hear anything you'll be the first to know. The gig was very enjoyable & the hospitality was great. A hello to everyone who spoke to us after the gig & hopefully we might see you again next time. Our thanks to Danny Bryant's band also for letting us have a jam at their last-minute gig (somewhere in Maryport), hope the gear is still working OK! We are hoping to be able to go back to that area again at some point. Also there's a few Blues Matters Specials coming up here & there as well as festivals, bike rallies, & other stuff all over the country (& hopefully abroad soon) so keep an eye on the gig list or fill in the mailing list form with a few details so we can let you know when we are gigging near you. I'm trying to set up the mailing list a bit better so that it will run a bit more smoothly & have a regular short newsletter emailed, so please let me know if you get left out or if there are any other problems so I can fine tune the whole thing. - eric@egypt-blues.com
25th May 04 - New CD Midnight Sun out now.
Just when we were beginning to think it was all a figment of Alan's imagination.......It's finally out!! Even as I write this Alan is busy unsticking bits of packing tape from his fingers as the first boxes start to arrive. We've got plenty of copies but we've got plenty of people who have been waiting a long time to get hold of one so I suggest you grab one at a gig soon or it might be another wait till the next lot is delivered. You can also buy direct from Blues Matters or try the record shops, it's being distributed by Pinnacle so it shouldn't be too difficult to find. Other things to watch out for are some gigs in and around London, currently in the planning stage, The Hickling Rock & Blues Festival from 9th - 11th July, Egypt is the last band on Friday 9th, The Blues Matters Festival in Cardiff from 24th to 26th September, when we should be at a different venue in Cardiff on each day, watch out for details, and a weekend of mostly Blues Matters bands in Attleborough planned for early September, probably the first weekend. Also if you are in the Oulton Broad or Stalham areas this Thursday & Friday (27th & 28th May) you might want to support some of our Blues Matters stable-mates & check out an excellent Dutch band The Mellotones at the Lady of the Lake & Sutton Staithe Hotel who are over in the UK for a few gigs.
17th April 04 - New CD latest.
The new CD is now ready for release and should (hopefully) be out within a few days. As soon as it's out we'll grab as many copies as we can to take with us to gigs. Let us know if you want a copy & we'll put one aside for you to pick up at whichever gig you plan to see us next. I haven't seen the booklet myself but Alan reckons it looks pretty good. It's got the lyrics to our stuff on it so there's no excuse for not singing along at gigs! Our people will be going around checking up on you. On another note, we've got some Scottish gigs pencilled in for October for those of you who live in that part of the world. It's been a while & it will be nice to go back again. Alan's had a phone surgically attached to his ear & has been really busy so watch out for gigs around the UK and abroad.
10th February 04 - Midnight Sun
The latest news from Blues Matters is that the new CD is nearly ready for release but may be slightly delayed as they have loads of work to sort out with several new releases for other artists on their label including Tony McPhee. We will meanwhile be playing some of the new stuff live. Keep checking the giglist as we are getting busier all the time and there are quite a few new gigs being booked sometimes with very little notice. We've seen quite a few venues stop having live bands recently but luckily it seems that for every venue that has gone, another appears from somewhere. The only way to find out if they're any good is to do them and see.
