|    30/10/03 | New CD 'Midnight Sun' out in 2004 |
| The latest CD "Midnight Sun" is to be released on the Blues Matters label in February 2004, catalogue No BMCD 200310. You can check out their website at www.bluesmatters.com where they have an international Blues & Blues/Rock review magazine, shop etc. 2004 could turn out to be a very busy year for us if things go to plan. We are already arranging bookings all over the UK & abroad, including Holland, Belgium, Switzerland & elsewhere. There is also work to be done on a possible two further albums for Blues Matters & a lot of things to sort out on the organization side of things. |
|    12/10/03 | Jam sessions |
| Keep a look out for the occasional jam session on Wednesdays at Oulton Broad - Lady of the Lake with Alan, Eric & Billy Fleming on drums. It's very informal so feel free to have a bash even if you're not very experienced. Either bring your own gear or borrow what you can on the night. There should be sessions on every Wednesday either with us or other musicians. Ring the Lady of the Lake on 01502 574 740 to check. |
|    27/08/03 | Hickling Fest |
| The Hickling Rock & Blues Festival was the best so far. It's coming along nicely & we are already looking at putting on the 5th one next year. Hopefully It will be possible to keep it going. It was great to see so many of you & we had a very enjoyable gig. See you all down there next year with a bit of luck. |
|    06/08/03 | Tracklist |
| Here's a list of the tracks we ended up doing at Purple Studios. Six of our own: Midnight Sun, Griff, 12.01, Down on the Farm, Boneshaker & Raising Cain, & three covers: Mean Town Blues (Johnny Winter), Just Want A Little Bit (much covered classic done by Roscoe Gordon, Undertakers, Slade & others) & Worried Life Blues (very loosely based on the John Lee Hooker version). For those of you who like slide guitar the news is good - five tracks feature slide. The sessions went really well & we laid the tracks down very quickly. The vocals were added later & a couple of bits & pieces had to be fixed after the fact, the rest was recorded live. One possible name for the CD is Midnight Sons but we shall see. Check the website for news on when copies will be available or email eric@egypt-blues.com and I'll let you know what's happening. |
|    21/07/03 | Studio |
| The studio time is confirmed at Purple Studios in Norwich at the end of the month between gigs in a very busy schedule, (no rest for the wicked!). No , that's not the name of the CD, though it is apt. We've been trying out the new stuff at some gigs and we're very pleased at how it's coming along. Here's a list of tracks - three tracks which you have probably heard us play live - Midnight Sun, Raising Cain and John Lee Hooker's Worried Life Blues, and the following which you are unlikely to have heard - Farm, Boneshaker, Griff, 12.01 and Grind. If you want a copy, email eric@egypt-blues.com and we will let you know when it is available. |
|    07/07/03 | Studio |
| We've booked some studio time at the end of the month so we can lay down a bunch of new tracks we've had in the pipeline for a good long while now. We'll be trying them out live over the next three weeks so hopefully it will be tight by the time we go into the studio. Listen out for the new stuff and let us know what you think. |
|    20/06/03 | Eric & Alan Unplugged |
| Look out for Eric and Alan Unplugged at the Lady of the Lake in Oulton Broad on some Sundays from around 3 till 6 or thereabouts. The plan is to make it a regular gig every other Sunday or even every Sunday depending on how it goes. It will probably be mostly Blues to begin with but we'll probably gradually introduce some different stuff and see how it develops. |
|    09/06/03 | Alan |
| Alan was busy this last weekend. In between doing our gigs he was helping out Endangered Species who needed some bass tracks laid down. They are currently in a Norfolk studio working their little socks off (on some extremely heavy stuff no doubt). I think It's affected Alan who now uses larger 15 inch speakers and is thinking of sharpening his guitar. |
|    31/05/03 | Gigs - Hickling |
| The gigs are coming in thick and fast now that Alan's back in the driving seat. Make sure you check the giglist regularly as there are quite a few gigs coming in at the last minute. As for later in the year the Hickling Festival is on between the 22nd and 24th of August Friday to Sunday (and possibly early on in the day on Monday). We will probably be playing on Saturday evening. Click on H'Fest link on the left frame for more info. |
|    14/05/03 | Guestbook |
| I've just put in a guestbook. Feel free to use it to comment, ask, or just say hello. |
|    21/04/03 | Alan is back |
| We had two great gigs at Oulton Broad and Dereham to welcome Alan back. It was like he'd never been away. The first of many hopefully. Our thanks to Endangered Species and Bob And Weave for helping out at The Brewery. |
|    08/04/03 | Alan is back |
| The good news is that Alan is back and will be playing with the band as usual from now on. The bad news is that there's not too many gigs in april, but we're working on it. Still, the rest of the year is looking busier all the time. Our thanks to Pat Rolph for helping us to keep things going over the last couple of months and to Symon Asher who did a few gigs for us as well. Both did an excellent job. |
|    05/04/03 | Gremlins hell at the Edward! |
| The gremlins were out last night at the Edward. Pat brought some recording equipment with him to record his last gig with us before Alan gets back from Spain. Unfortunately everything that could possibly go wrong, did go wrong. We'll have to see what we've ended up with. |
